Sales Presentation Tips From Comedians: Start Strong & End Stronger
Great comedians open with their second-best joke and close with their best joke, so they start their set strong and end stronger.
Welp, for this episode of The Receptionist’s award winning podcast: FABRIC show, I did the exact opposite.
My opening joke fell flat (@ 1:50). Then at the very end of the show (@ 20:25), we tried an improvisation exercise that didn’t turn out well at all.
So to manage your expectations and/or pique your morbid curiosity, I did in fact bookend this gig with bombs. (They can’t all be homeruns… just ask Ricky Gervais 🔥).
The middle of the interview is solid stuff though. Listen now and you’ll get a ton of actionable takeaways in under 20 minutes.
Here’s your highlights:
@ 9:00 – sage advice to salespeople who are feeling inauthentic during a client presentation
@ 10:00 – how to be more engaging on Zoom: your 5 must-have strategies
@ 14:30 – the #1 piece of advice that helped the 16 semifinalists before their Denver Startup Week pitches
@ 16:10 – a couple things to consider if you’re concerned about filler words during your presentations
And if you’re still scratching your head about what the heck Pitch Lab actually is, we did talk about three unique ways comedy comes into play during our workshops for salespeople (@ 18:15).
